The field marks Thick-billed FOSP share with Slate-colored FOSP show well in this photo. The subspecies of Thick-billed Fox Sparrow with the smallest bill, which is most similar to Slate-colored Fox Sparrow (P. i. canescens), nests in Nevada. It is unlikely this population of Fox Sparrow in south central Washington is P. i. canescens.
