This is a list of birds "heard" by the Merlin app on my iPhone at Bensten-Rio Grande Valley State Park south of Mission, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley. Northern Lapwing in a plover that can be found from Iceland all the way to Japan. Wren-like Rushbird is found from Peru south to the tip of South America. The chance of either of them showing up in Texas are pretty remote. While Merlin does an impressive job, and I use it quite a lot, you have to be careful with what it tells you.

This is a list generated by the Merlin app on my iPhone at Christopher Columbus Park in Tucson, Arizona, on February 25, 2024. Eurasian Oystercatcher is a basically impossibile there. The nearest one to Tucson is over 5000 miles away, though there have been two sightings in New Foundland. Black Terns have been seen in the Tucson area but never in winter. Merlin is good but it does make mistakes.
