It is possible this is a Thick-billed Fox Sparrow at the White Pass Campground at Leech Lake, Yakima County, WA. It is also possible it is a canescens Slate-colored Fox Sparrow, though that is unlikely. The nesting territory of Thick-billed Fox Sparrow comes much closer to White Pass, WA than does that of canescens Slate-colored Fox Sparrow. Digiscoped. June 30, 2007.

Red Fox Sparrow at the bird blind at the Yakima Area arboretum in Yakima, WA. Reddish ear coverts, streaked back and red uppertail covers are field marks for Red FOSPs. The amount of yellow on the bill, especially on the upper mandible, varies on the Fox Sparrow in this photo and the two to the right, which indicates they are different birds. Oct. 22, 2017.
